Who are we?

Hi, my name is Jacob. I am the owner of FileForge3D and the father of three beautiful boys and a sweet baby girl. Together, with the help of my wife, Allison, our family works to deliver quality 3D prints from our home to yours.

What started as my hobby in the early months of 2023 quickly grew into a family activity. Initially, I used the hobby to scratch my itch to tinker with something electromechanical. I went from one printer, primarily used for small, fun prints, to wanting to understand how they worked on a deeper level. I wanted to know why a 3D printer did what it did. How certain settings affect the machine. How different materials reacted to different use cases.

I craved more and more knowledge on what made them tick. I started buying second-hand machines and refurbishing them. I graduated from that to building high-performance printers from scratch using my previous 3D printers to create joints and components to bring new printers to life. Okay, I realize I am making it sound like I own a small army of 3D printers. That is not entirely true.. as long as you don't ask my wife, lol. I have had printers come and go, but no matter how many I have, my knowledge, passion, and respect for these machines continue to grow.

I said this became a family affair. It did. I kept printing out little things all the time. Test prints and anything I found cool or useful stuff for around the house. My kids always appreciate when my test prints look like dragons or something that reminded them of big teeth and loud roars. It took a bit for my wife and I to really grasp the power of 3D printing and the effect it could have on our family (i.e., making stuff we couldn't afford or didn't want to pay a crazy amount for).

Now, this journey from then until now would not have been possible without my family. My wife is an incredibly talented woman with an eye for design. She gives me suggestions for photos and ideas for craft fairs, even helps me pick out what prints people like. My kids are also important pieces of our shops puzzle. Without them, I wouldn't have the joy of watching them light up when I make something new, and they get to play with it.  It's the feeling of being a cool dad that they give me, which sparked my interest in bringing my prints to others.

My goal here is to share the passion I have discovered in 3D printing and deliver quality products at a reasonable price. Whether it's an articulated T-Rex, cute snake fidgets, or a giant marble-esk cat statue. We're here to bridge joy from our home to yours.
